Uppsala Site Day Highlights: Showcasing SciLifeLab’s Research and Infrastructure

Uppsala University PhD students, research fellows, the Vice-Chancellor, and some three hundred plus friends of SciLifeLab convened for the SciLifeLab Uppsala Site Day where the spotlight was on research and infrastructure located in Uppsala.

“The SciLifeLab Uppsala Site Day is important and well-timed; SciLifeLab started more than 10 years ago in Uppsala and Stockholm– and is now a truly national research infrastructure and research community with additional sites in Gothenburg, Lund, Linköping, and Umeå. Today is a wonderful opportunity to show what has happened here since the start as well as present what we have locally here in Uppsala, that is available to academic researchers, healthcare, and industry all over Sweden”, says Jenny Alfredsson, Head of Operations, SciLifeLab.

The Uppsala University Main building has been a hot spot for academic gatherings since its inauguration in 1887 and was perfectly suited also for the Uppsala Site Day event, where lectures were intertwined with poster sessions, networking opportunities, and an exhibition from SciLifeLab facilities.

Among the highlights of the event, Olli Kallioniemi, Director of the SciLifeLab & Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science, introduced a session focused on SciLifeLab’s capabilities in Pandemic Laboratory Preparedness, Precision Medicine, and Planetary Biology through an AI-generated podcast reflecting on the capabilities ability to tackle major societal challenges by combining SciLifeLab infrastructure and research community.
