SciLifeLab welcomes Their Majesties from the Netherlands and Sweden
Today, SciLifeLab had the honor to welcome Their Majesties from the Netherlands and Sweden to visit the national research infrastructure SciLifeLab and learn more about technologies to study cells and initiatives for precision medicine. The visit is part of the state visit from The Netherlands for which life science is one of the key topics.
The purpose of the visit is to reaffirm and advance the excellent and long-standing relations between Sweden and the Netherlands dating back to the 1600s. The countries are working together to make Europe greener, more resilient, and economically stronger. In addition to life sciences, the focus of the State Visit is green innovation, maritime relations, and gender equality.
”It is a major recognition for SciLifeLab to be selected as a site for this state visit and it was our pleasure to guide these distinguished visitors through a glimpse of the vast research resources and infrastructure that SciLifeLab offers,” says Ylva Engström, Professor at Stockholm University, and Chair of the SciLifeLab board.
SciLifeLab is a national resource of unique technologies and expertise available to life scientists, closely intertwined with our community of researchers in areas such as biomedicine, ecology, and evolution.
“We bring scientists together across traditional boundaries and foster collaborations with industry, health care, public research organizations, and international partners. During the site visit we focused on precision medicine and on technologies to visualize and study individual cells as well as their molecular properties”, says Mia Phillipson, Professor at Uppsala University, and Co-Director SciLifeLab.
The Netherlands and Sweden are frontrunners in life sciences and health. Strengthened cooperation between Dutch and Swedish researchers and companies will benefit both countries to work on innovative solutions.
