SciLifeLab launches KAW financed call to support scientist with Ukrainian nationality

Today, SciLifeLab launches a call, with funding from Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, to support Ukrainian scientists coming to Sweden. The call is intended for guest scientists of Ukrainian nationality to join laboratories in Sweden in the fields of life science, biomedical research and biocomputing.

Guest scientists of Ukrainian nationality are invited to join existing SciLifeLab activities, and the scientist will be employed at a Swedish university and hosted by one of the research groups, infrastructure units, or computing/data science units of SciLifeLab across Sweden.

“This is an important initiative, enabled by the support from KAW. Do you know a researcher with Ukrainian nationality who could benefit from this initiative? Please spread the word and contribute”, says Olli Kallioniemi, SciLifeLab Director.

The call is open to:

  • Expression of interest from Ukrainian scientists in Ukraine or in exile who seek a host laboratory in Sweden (deadline April 8)
  • Expression of interest from laboratories linked to SciLifeLab who are interested in hosting a Ukrainian guest scientist (deadline April 8)
  • Nominations from laboratories linked to SciLifeLab that have already identified a Ukrainian scientist to host (deadline April 21)

Financial support is available for a one-year period amounting to 1 MSEK per guest researcher. The applications will be prioritized by KAW for funding.
