Opening of a 6 month project assistant position 50 % at the Genome Engineering Zebrafish Facility, SciLifeLab.

Duties: As a project assistant at the Genome Engineering Zebrafish Facility, SciLifeLab you are responsible for adequate husbandry of the zebrafish in the facility. This includes: feeding, maintenance of aquatic systems, control of water quality and maintaining appropriate records. Additionally, work may include managing fish breeding and health checks of zebrafish. Occasionally some tasks can be physically demanding. Weekend and holiday work will be required. The candidate will work closely to the users of the facility and be helpful.

Requirements: Gymnasium degree or skills that the employer considers equivalent. We are looking for qualified and motivated candidates with an interest in animal health and welfare. 

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a group are required. An ability of initiative and a structured approach is important for this position. As a person, you will be expected to be efficient, accurate, and eager to develop the operation. We value a good sense of service. Particular emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. The position requires good English language skills.

Additional qualifications: Biological post-secondary education in biology and/or chemistry. Previous experience of working with zebrafish or other aquatic model organisms and live feeds for aquaculture.

Salary: Individual salary.

Starting date: 01-10-2021 or as otherwise agreed.

Type of employment: Temporary position ending 31-03-2022.
