The SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) will train and recruit the next generation of data-driven life scientists and create strong and globally competitive computational and data science capabilities in Swedish life science.

With a total budget of 3.1 billion SEK (about 300Meuro, 350MUSD) over 12 years, generously donated by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation, the program will aim to recruit a total of 39 future research leaders as DDLS Fellows, more than 60 permanent advanced technical staff at national Data Science Nodes and the national Data Platform, establish a graduate school for 260 PhD students and create 210 postdoctoral positions in academia and industry.

If you are interested in joining us on this incredible journey you can find DDLS Fellow, PhD and postdoc positions, open calls, staff positions, and other DDLS related opportunities here. All positions will be at one of our eleven partner universities/organizations, Chalmers, GU, KI, KTH, LiU, LU, SLU, SU, UmU and UU) and the Swedish Museum of Natural History, spread out across Sweden.

Call for Joint WASP and DDLS NESTs

DDLS and WASP announce a joint call for NESTs (Novelty, Excellence, Synergy, and Teams) projects that span across the thematic profiles of DDLS and WASP. A NEST should address a specific strategic high-priority research challenge with international impact and visibility that requires the gathered competence of a multidisciplinary team of investigators in order to be solved.

Call for DDLS Research School Courses

The DDLS Research School opens the call for courses in topics of relevance for data-driven life science research. The DDLS Research School will offer courses (and other activities) to the DDLS PhD students, starting in the spring semester of 2025. In this call, we primarily solicit courses in DDLS where each course could cover one or more of the following topics:

  • Data handling in data-driven life science research
  • Algorithms in data-driven life science / Machine learning algorithms
  • Study design for data-driven life science research
  • Deep learning
  • ELSI

Research initiation grants for data-driven life sciences and society (DDLS/WASP-HS)

This call aims to provide funding for research investigating the human and social challenges of data-driven strategies developed and applied within the life sciences. The research should aim to increase the understanding of how using artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems, and data-driven methodologies has effects and consequences in the life sciences, medicine, and/or society.

DDLS Bioinformatics Long-term Support

DDLS strives to enable excellent and Data-Driven Life Science, offering extensive bioinformatics and data science support to a limited set of scientifically outstanding projects.
